Guidance is the sum total of the helping services purposely created to facilitate or show the way for the realization of the optimum human growth and development of all individuals.
Its main goal is to help each student, benefit fully from his educational experiences and ultimately develop to the maximum his potentialities.
In consonance with the mission and goals of the Western Mindanao State University, the Guidance Program is designed to provide opportunities for the individual to explore his needs, aptitudes, abilities, interest and skills, and make full use of such, in enabling him to arrive at his goals.
The staffs are professionally trained in the field of Guidance and Counseling, as well as other related areas, who as a team are available to meet a variety of student concerns. At the Counseling Center, student, faculty and other personnel may discuss and explore in confidence, any problem or feelings that are important to them.
Professional guidance and counseling services are provided for a wide range of concerns, particularly in three areas namely educational/academic, vocational/occupational, personal/social.
The counselor's main responsibility is to help students organize their needs, think through their problems and arrive at their own decisions. The professional counselors offer friendly and understand atmosphere for the students and clients.
Any student may seek individual counseling with the assurance of complete confidentiality.
